My godmother is one of those people who overflows with creative talent. I remember spending summer nights at her house sitting around the kitchen table painting sun catchers, cross stitching, and learning how to crochet. Therefore, when it comes to wedding presents, it is no wonder that she is known for her embroidered tea towels. My mother received a few over the years and I was overjoyed to receive a set of my own on my wedding day. It was one of those moments when you realize – I’m all grown up! Crazy how a set of tea towels can do that!
Ian and I have a few weddings to attend this summer and I wanted to add a touch of my godmother’s homemade charm to the gifts we picked off the registry. My embroidery skills need a bit of practice, so I opted for a fool-proof option – fabric pens! I chose to write on the towels, but you could also decorate the towels with a cute design!
Quick Tip: Use light strokes so the fabric pen ink won’t bleed! Let the ink dry, then trace over your work to achieve a more saturated look.
These are so lovely, and such a great idea for a gift! Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you, Dara! This is such a simple DIY it’s easy to start daydreaming all the other items you could use a fabric pen on (aprons, pillow cases, etc.) The options are endless! Thanks for stopping by the blog!
Oh well aren’t these just the sweetest things! Great idea for newlyweds!!!
Thank you, Krissy! I like adding a little personal touch to wedding gifts, so these DIY tea towels were a fun project:)
