Ever have those moments where you realize how much time has passed? Well, that happened to me last weekend! In what seemed like a blink of the eye, a whole year had passed and we were back at the Winter Wine Fest at Parallel 44. This time I bundled up in multiple layers, but my feet still got cold a few hours into the event! Cold toes aside, Ian and I enjoyed sampling a handful of wines, taking a carriage ride and dancing to the live band!

This weekend we hope to catch up on some work, but it may be difficult with the new season of House of Cards available on Netflix!

I hope you all have a great weekend! I will see you back here on Monday with a new post! In the mean time you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter,Instagram and Pinterest!

Cuban Sandwich

Cuban-Sandwich-Recipe

On our flight home from our honeymoon Ian and I watched The Chef. It was a light-hearted movie that helped pass the time and left us craving a cuban sandwich.

Fast-forward to a few months later when we were out on a date and the menu listed a cuban sandwich. Ian and I had never tried one before, but after that in-flight movie we knew we had to add it to our order! Since that night Ian and I have fallen in love with cubans! The sweet barbeque sauce is offset with a slice of salty ham garnished with a tangy pickle.

Here is how you can make on of these delicious sandwiches at home:

  1. Butter two slices of thick cut bread
  2. On the opposite side of the bread spread yellow mustard
  3. Pile bbq pork onto one of the slices of bread, mustard side up (make it easy and buy this premade)
  4. Layer provolone cheese, a thick slice of cooked ham and two dill pickles on top
  5. Close the sandwich with the mustard side down
  6. Brown on a griddle or sandwich press

Beauty-and-Blooms

It’s crazy how the smallest things in life can give you immense joy.

This week was rough. Work was draining, stressful and at times – unfulfilling. I would come home in a bad mood and the last thing on my mind was to create content for my little space here on the web.

Then Ian surprised me with two dozen roses. My heart melted a little bit.

Sometimes I feel guilty spending money on flowers since they are not a necessity, but boy oh boy, do flowers bring me joy.  I couldn’t keep a smile off my face the rest of the week!

So I was curious – what little things give you joy? I’d love to hear, so share them below!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here with a new post on Monday!

In the meantime you can catch up with me on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter!
