Anthropologie Inspired: DIY Christmas Ornament

DIY Christmas Ornaments

Years have come and gone without a white Christmas, but the holiday always feels more festive with a blanket of snow covering the ground outside. We definitely are not lacking in snow up in Wisconsin this year, but it felt like it took a while to arrive. Therefore, when I looked up at the calendar and realized Christmas was less than a week away it took me by surprise!

We’ve barely made a dent on our holiday to-do list and I feel like I’m running out of time! Christmas cookies have yet to be baked, presents need to be wrapped and last minute DIY’s need to be made!  Normally I would set aside time on the weekend to check off all these items, but that ship has sailed and I have to make the most of my evenings. Therefore, I’m forced to be efficient and Pinterest fails are not an option!

Anthropologie Inspired: DIY Monogram Tumblers

Anthropologie Inspired DIY Monogram Tumbler

Turn on the Christmas carols and pour yourself a cup of hot chocolate! It’s time to sit down and get cozy for a holiday craft!

Every year I find it difficult to shop for the men on my list. They fall into two extremes:

  • Their wish list is non-existent
  • Everything on their list is way out of my price range

Therefore, I’m left racking my brain for a gift they would enjoy, but never think to put on their list. Last year I chose to go down the food route with Chocolate Covered Bourbon Oreos. Because let’s be real, you can never go wrong with food! But this year I was in the DIY mood and wanted to switch things up a bit.

DIY Halloween Spider Wall Hang

DIY Halloween Spider Wall Decoration

Last weekend I was tiding up the house when I realized – it was the middle of October and I hadn’t put up our Halloween decorations! I quickly ran to the closet, teetered on top of a chair, and pulled down our holiday box. As I placed jack-o-lantern votives and pumpkins around the apartment it started to feel more festive – but something was missing.

All of our decorations were displayed on tabletops and failed to bring interest to our walls. As I contemplated how to solve this, an idea popped into my head! So I asked Ian to go on a walk with me so I could search for twigs.

Ian, being the sweetest husband, agreed to help me look for twigs. We parted ways and when we met back up he had a whole arm full of sticks! After sorting through our piles, I selected one that I thought would be perfect.

Once we got home I wrapped yarn around the stick, trimmed it into a V-shape, and twisted glittered spiders on the yarn to make a quick and easy Halloween DIY wall hang!
