DIY Rosewater Witch Hazel Toner

DIY Rosewater Witch Hazel Toner

My love for experimenting with homemade skin care started at a young age. I would tear out DIY face mask recipes from magazines, save them in a binder (old school Pinterest!), and test them out through the summer. My face was usually dripping with banana and oatmeal concoctions that left my skin less than radiant, but it was my first taste of making my own beauty products and I fell in love.

Since then, I’ve move on from riffling through my mother’s pantry cupboards and have tested out recipes that have become staples in my skin care routine such as this rosewater witch hazel toner. As DIYs go, this one is as easy as they come. After a bit of steeping and mixing, you are ready to spritz your face with the toner and start reaping the many benefits of rosewater and witch hazel. This toner will help tighten pores, fade blemishes, and balance out your skins oil production.

Outdoor Movie Night

Outdoor Movie Night

The idea of going to a drive-in movie theater always appealed to me. Laying under the stars, popcorn in hand, watching a film seemed like the perfect date night – until I actually experienced it. While I was a fan of watching a film under the stars, I wasn’t keen on the fact that the movie ended at midnight and we still had a long drive home from the theater ahead of us. Therefore, I decided to make a few modifications to throw the perfect outdoor movie night!

Outdoor Movie Night

You don’t need to drive to the countryside to enjoy an outdoor movie. Just throw down a blanket in your backyard, add a few pillows and you have set the stage for a cozy date night. Bonus points if you add a few twinkle lights!

Add in a few of your favorite snacks and you are ready to snuggle in and watch a film. You can get fancy with a projector, but we chose to keep things simple and propped up an iPad. This date night is the perfect way to get outside and enjoy the ambiance of a drive-in theater in your own backyard!

DIY Foreign Coin Magnets

DIY Foreign Coin Magnets

Throughout our travels Ian and I have collected spare change in various currencies. Recently, they were tucked away in box beneath our bed. Every so often we would pull out the box, dust it off, and reminisce about our vacations. As we shifted through the coins we would talk about the beautiful views, delicious food and wonderful memories we made in each country. It seemed sad to store them away, so I brainstormed ways to incorporate them into our daily life. Then it hit me – they would make perfect magnets!

I was shocked it took me so long to come up with this solution! In a matter of minutes I glued magnets to the back of our coin collection and placed them on the fridge. Now, instead of gathering dust beneath our bed they are holding up pictures from our adventures. Every once in awhile I catch myself in the kitchen staring at the fridge and I’m grateful to have a daily reminder of all the places we’ve been and dream about where we want to go next.
