Honeymoon: Big Basin State Park

Honeymoon: Big Basin State Park

On our final day in San Francisco we jumped in an Uber car and headed to the airport to pick up our rental car. It was late in the evening so we drove down to Santa Cruz to spend the night. Bright and early the next morning we backtracked a few miles to hike at Big Basin State Park.

Half of the fun was the drive there! The roads winded up and down hills as you drove deeper into the redwood forest.

Once we made it into the park, we were in awe of the ancient forest. It was hard to capture the thousand year old trees in photos, but we tried! Ian and I both agree this was our favorite leg of the trip.

Ian and I finally have got back in the swing of our normal routine. To be honest, it was a painful process! After our honeymoon I felt like a little kid who realized summer was over and they had to go back to school. The work day seemed to drag on forever and I missed spending the entire day with Ian. By the end of the week it got easier to wake up to the alarm and work a nine hour day – but I can not deny I was looking forward to the weekend! Ian and I are headed back to Madison for the first time since our wedding and I can’t wait to see my family and wish both my sister and brother a happy birthday! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Honeymoon: San Francisco

San Francisco Honeymoon | Beauty and Blooms

I hope you all had a lovely Labor Day Weekend! I took advantage of the three-day weekend to get a jump start editing our honeymoon photos (we took a road trip of the California coast!) I will be releasing them in batches – the first featuring our time in San Francisco.

*For all of you waiting for our wedding photos, they will be released in the upcoming weeks as our photographer is still in the process of editing them!

San Francisco Honeymoon | Beauty and Blooms

Ian and I started our honeymoon by flying into San Francisco. We decided to forgo the headache of renting a car in the city and took full advantage of the metro. Our hotel was in the Marina district and we fell in love with Blue Barn – we ate there two nights in arrow!

Since this was not our first time in the City we did not rush around to hit all of the tourist attractions. However, we did take the trek up Lombard St. and visited Chinatown and Union Square to do a bit of shopping.

Since we brought our tripod along on this trip, we decided to retake a few of our “couple” photos at the Painted Ladies and Golden Gate bridge. Let me tell you – the tripod was life changing! While we couldn’t escape the San Francisco fog, the tripod allowed us to take photos together that looked great the first time around. All you selfie takers out there will know how rare that is!

Here are a few shots I took while walking around the City. Thankfully Ian has grown accustom to my frequent stops to get a few shots:) Leaving San Francisco was bittersweet. It is an amazing city full of unique neighborhoods, boutique shops, and delicious food.
