Five Movie Night Essentials

Five-Movie-Night-Essentials-Beauty-and-Blooms

At the end of the week the mere thought of going out and fighting the crowds or scouring for a parking spot can tempt you to cancel your evening plans. To compromise, plan a casual movie night at home! You can snuggle up with blankets and enjoy hanging out with your friends or loved one. Here are five of my favorite movie night essentials.

  1. Popcorn: What is a movie night without popcorn?! I love to pop my own kernels with an air popper. With a light spray of olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt this treat is ready for munching!
  2. Twizzlers: I’m team Twizzlers, but Redvines will do.  (Any Parks & Rec fans out there?)
  3. M&Ms: It may just be due to laziness, but I love to sprinkle a few M&Ms into my popcorn. It’s sweet + salty heaven!
  4. Junior Mints: These have been a movie-going favorite of mine since I was little! Ian is a Bunch-a-Crunch fan, so sometimes I mix it up and forgo the nostalgia for him.
  5. Cream Soda: We don’t keep soda in the house, so this may be the biggest treat on movie night! A local shop down the road stocks cream soda, so when we host a movie night we make sure to pick up a few bottles!

What are your favorite movie night snacks?

After spending so much time apart, Ian and I soaked up the little things this week. From trying out a new café to hiding under piles of blankets to watch “Friends,” we loved the simplicity of just being together.

On a more productive note, I cleared a few evenings to work on our wedding/honeymoon scrapbook! This project has been on my ‘to-do” list for a few months now so it was nice to finally make some progress and reminisce about the past eight months of marriage.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Afternoon at the Antique Store

On days were it is too cold to be outside, but I feel cooped up in the apartment I like to take drive on the country roads. It’s a nice way to get out of the house when you have nowhere to go.

These drives are a small adventure of sorts. We pick a direction and make it up as we go. Sometimes we just take in the countryside and look at the farms nestled into the landscape and other times we stubble upon hidden surprises.

On our latest outing we came across this little antique store. It was a Sunday afternoon, so we were surprised that it was still open! Taking this as a sign, we pulled in the parking lot and had a look around inside.

I love wandering around antique stores looking at old china, dresses and books thinking about the stories they hold. While I will never know the truth I enjoy fantasizing about the owners of each item.

Before we headed home Ian purchased two old beer cans. Now I have the joy of figuring out a way to display his new collection in our tiny apartment. I’m hoping Pinterest can help me out on this one!
