Need a pick-me-up after a busy holiday season? Or maybe you’re just not ready to go cold turkey on your “no sweets” New Years resolution. Then these Mocha Orea Truffles are perfect for you! As a bite size dessert, they are ideal for sharing at the office of satisfying your late night sweet craving!

With white chocolate drizzled on top of the truffles, these treats make a statement. However, they are quite simple to make. A short 20 minutes after opening a package of Oreos you will have a plate of truffles ready to pop in your mouth. Be warned, it’s hard to just have one!

Ingredients

  • 1 package Oreos
  • 1 C. vanilla frosting
  • 2 Tbs. instant coffee
  • 1 bar of dark chocolate, melted
  • 1 bar of white chocolate, melted

Directions

  • Place Oreos in a food processor and blend until finely chopped.
  • Pour Oreo pieces into a large bowl then add in the vanilla frosting and coffee. Stir until well incorporated.
  • Roll Oreo mixture into small balls and place in the fridge to harden for 5 minutes.
  • Dip Oreo balls into dark chocolate and place on a non-stick surface.
  • Drizzle with white chocolate and place in the fridge for 5-10 minutes for chocolate to set.

I know what you are thinking, “Frozen hot in winter?! She must be crazy.” Well, you might be right, but keep an open mind! With a shot of baileys or crème de menthe, this frozen drink still has the ability to warm you up. Plus, as a hostess this drink offers the benefit of combining an after dinner drink with dessert. And we all know what that means – fewer dishes and more time to spend with guests.

While frozen hot chocolate martinis are fun to serve at a party, they are just as delicious to eat out of a bowl while watching a movie. Just skip the martini glass and shot of alcohol and you have yourself a quick, one-bowl dessert that you can enjoy any time you are craving something sweet.

Ingredients:

*This is for one serving.

  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 Tbs hot chocolate mix
  • 1 shot crème de menthe or baileys (Optional)
  • 1 Pirouette

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl or blender, combine the ice cream, hot chocolate mix and crème de menthe/baileys (optional).
  2. Stir until smooth.
  3. Spoon the ice cream mixture into a martini glass and top with a pirouette

While it’s often categorized as a holiday flavor, I’m guilty of indulging in it all year long. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that these Chocolate Candy Cane cookies were on the top of my list to bake!

The dough, a decadent mixture heavy with melted chocolate, will test your willpower. While you may be tempted to eat the batter before you roll them out to bake, the wait is worth it. Trust me!

Once the cookies are out of the oven and have time to cool, you are ready for the fun part – decorating! If you have had a particularly stressful day, then you will get even more joy out of this stage since you get to smash candy canes with a rolling pin. Now, don’t get too carried away since you may bust open your Ziploc bag and little pieces of candy cane will fly all over your kitchen. (I may, or may not be speaking from experience….)

Now that your candy canes are crushed into little pieces, all you have to do is dunk your cookie into melted chocolate and add a dusting of candy cane on top. Set aside for the chocolate to set, then you are ready to enjoy your cookies. Enjoy!

Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 C. butter
  • 2 Tbs. water
  • 1.5 C. brown sugar
  • 2 C. chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • 2.5 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 bar dark baking chocolate
  • 3 candy canes, crushed

Directions:

  1. In a large pan on low heat, melt the butter, water and sugar.
  2. Add the chocolate chips and stir until melted.
  3. Pour mixture into a bowl and set aside.
  4. Once cool, beat in the eggs, then slowly add in the dry ingredients.
  5. Chill dough for 1 hour, then roll into small balls and bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Once cookies have cooled, and dip them half-way in melted chocolate.
  7. Place on a non-stick surface and sprinkle the cookies with candy canes.
  8. Once the chocolate has set, store cookies in an airtight container.
