Ian came down with pneumonia last week, so our days were filled with movies, naps, and eating chicken noodle soup. After a busy day at work this itinerary sounds divine, but around the third day I was itching to get out of the house.
After a week of antibiotics and lots of rest, Ian was finally starting to feel like himself again. To celebrate (and shake off our bout of cabin fever!) we filled a thermos with hot chocolate, bundled up, and drove up to Door County to visit Cave Point Park.
I felt like we were exploring an enchanted forest as we hiked through the moss covered trails. Half way through our hike Ian caught a glimpse of a small hidden beach. We wove our way through the trees to get to the beach and were surprised to find it covered in balancing stones. Of course, Ian was up for the challenge and spent a good half and hour designing his balancing stone structure. I on the other-hand took pride in stacking the smallest structure on the beach!
We ended our day of exploration cuddled underneath a blanket, sipping hot chocolate, and watching the sunset over Lake Michigan. After a week in and out of the doctor’s office, I wanted to hold onto this moment and cherish the fact that we live in a beautiful state where views like this are only a mini road-trip away.
