You know those days where all you want to do is cuddle up in a pile of blankets and forget about all of your deadlines and responsibilities? Well, that was me this week. While I pushed myself to be productive during the day, I let myself go into full hibernation mode in the evenings. Most nights consisted of a bubble bath and catching up on my reading list. Rule number one: don’t let the little voice in your head fill you with guilt. Sometimes it is in your best interest to do nothing! It’s refreshing and allows you to put your best foot forward the next day. On that note, I hope you all have a relaxing weekend and set aside some time to pamper yourself!

Ten Winter Date Ideas: 2015

Ten-Winter-Date-Ideas

It is hard to brainstorm date ideas when you just want to cuddle up in bed with a cup of hot chocolate. In order to avoid cabin fever, here are a few date ideas that will get you out of the house (at least for a few hours!)

  1. Look up a museum and spend an afternoon acting like kids on a field trip
  2. Go to a coffee shop with a deck of cards and play a few rounds of your favorite game
  3. Get messy and sing up for a cooking class to learn a new skill!
  4. Grab a glass of wine and channel your inner artist at a paint bar
  5. Go to a comedy club and share a few laughs
  6. Rent cross country skis and enjoy the outdoors
  7. Visit a brewery and sign up for a tour
  8. Feel like teenagers again and go bowling
  9. Stop by the library and pick up books for an afternoon of cuddling

What’s on your winter date night list?

After six months of Ian’s travel-free work schedule I grew accustomed to having him home all the time. This week I was reminded I was living the good life! Monday afternoon I had to take a long lunch break at work to drive him to the airport. I was able to stay calm and collected as I hugged him goodbye – which is a huge accomplishment! My goodbyes usually are along the lines of an ugly Kim K. cry.

As most of Ian’s work trips go, the return date was pushed around. At first he was to come home on Wednesday then as the days passed his flight was rescheduled for Friday. This is one aspect of his job that I can’t handle. Never knowing when he will be home or what plans we will have to cancel leave me on edge. I am an organized list maker that likes to plan ahead – so this new lifestyle has pushed me out of my comfort zone. While the past year and a half have taught me a lot about myself, I still dream of the day when Ian has a travel-free position. Or at least a job where I could tag along!

Here are a few things that made me smile this week. I hope you all have a great weekend and a happy Valentine’s Day!
