Baked Berry Donuts

I have been on a health-kick lately, but a girl still has to enjoy her sweets! So I decided to compromise. I would be strong and pass the donuts at the market (they smelled SO good!) and go home to make these “lighter” baked donuts.

This was my first time baking donuts at home and I was surprised how well they turned out! I topped them with fresh berries, which basically makes them breakfast. Right?! Oh, a girl can dream.

Donut Sugar Cookies + Free Printable

Donuts are my downfall. I try to resist them, but I can only be so strong when someone brings a box of fluffy, warm donuts into the office! I tell myself I can indulge in half a donut because the calories only count if you eat the whole thing, right?! If only the bathroom scale believed that reasoning.

While sugar cookies are not much better off than donuts themselves, these cute cut-outs stole my heart. Bonus: you don’t need to buy a fancy cookie cutter to achieve this look! I just used the rim of a drinking glass to cut out the shape of the donut then created the donut hole with a shot glass!

Chocolate Dipped Fortune Cookies

Chocolate-Dipped-Fortune-Cookies

Fortune cookies always remind me of my college days. Sitting out on the balcony in the hot summer sun, drinking raspberry iced tea and ending my cheap general tso take-out meal with a fortune cookie. Oh, the drama when there was only one cookie in the brown paper take-out bag! Luckily, Ian was always sweet enough to split the cookie with me when we came across those unfortunate situations.

Now that we have graduated, we are able to afford better Chinese food and even a whole box (yes, box!) of fortune cookies. I picked one up on our weekly grocery shop to surprise Ian with a bit of chocolate-dipped decadence.

Feel free to be creative with these! Add sprinkles, crushed nuts, toffee or even drizzle a bit of white chocolate on them! You really can’t go wrong!
