DIY Stone Paper Weights

DIY StonePaper-Weights

Ian and I savor the days were we can keep our windows open and let in the fresh crisp air. I love the feeling of a slight breeze while we are working around the house, but it occasionally shuffles around paper stacked on our desk.

Then one evening on a walk I saw a these stones on the side of the road and I had an idea – I could make them into little paper weights! With a touch of paint these little stones transformed into rustic paper weights that are pleasing to look at and keep our desk nice an tidy, even with the windows open! Total win, win.

Getting back into the work grind after a long holiday weekend is always a slow transition, but I’ve ended the week feeling like I’ve accomplished something! I stepped outside my comfort zone and attended the Rising Tide Society’s #TuesdaysTogether meet up in my area. It was exhilarating to catch with other women in the industry and I walked away with a notebook full of ideas. For a weekday night I would say that is quite productive! Especially since I usually end up curled up on the couch watching Netflix…

What was the highlight of your week? I would love to hear!

Below are a few snapshots of my Labor Day weekend. Enjoy!

Homemade PopTarts

Homemade-Poptarts

How are kids already back in school? It feels like summer went by in a blink of an eye, but I guess that’s how it always feels! Growing up, one plus side of going back to school was buying a few special treats for breakfast and lunches. We weren’t allowed sugary snacks on the regular so getting a box of PopTarts was a big deal!

Ian and I still try to limit the amount of sweets we keep in the house, so when I surprised him with a batch of homemade PopTarts he could barely wait until they had cooled off to pop one in his mouth.

In the past, I made my own pastry dough but this time around I bought pre-made pie crusts and it was a huge time-saver! These PopTarts are also highly versatile. You can have fun and play around with fillings or toppings. For this batch, I stuck to a traditional flavor, strawberry, but I played around with mini PopTarts. How cute are these little guys?!

How to:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Roll out your pie crusts and cut into rectangles.
  • Add a dollop of your filling to the center on one rectangle
  • Top with another rectangle and crimp the edges shut using a fork
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown
  • Once cool spread on the topping of your choice
