When we experience a week where everything seems to go wrong, it’s easy to get wrapped up in negativity. This week I decided to fight to stay positive. I cuddled up with a new book, took a walk outside, and purchased flowers at the last farmer’s market of the season. While it wasn’t much, they were little moments that I could hold onto and smile about when things around me became chaotic once again.

I hope you all have a relaxing weekend!

Ian and I were itching to get out of the house and he set two guidelines:

  1. We get outside and enjoy the nice weather
  2. We go somewhere we haven’t been before

Still being relatively new to the area, the second guideline was not hard to follow. We hit up trusty Google and searched for a State Park within driving distance. High Cliff State Park was the winner!

We learned High Cliff State Park used to be an old quarry and were surrounded by beautiful rock formations throughout our hike. At dusk, we stumbled across a grouping of Indian Burial Mounds which made for a very somber walk through the woods. I find burial mounds fascinating and was saddened to learn many of the mounds were destroyed by the quarry.

Overall, the hike was educational and breath-taking. It was a great way to get outdoors and explore our new county.

Coming off an exciting weekend catching up with friends in Milwaukee, a quiet week was needed. Ian and I passed up the weekly farmer’s market and live music events to catch up on emails and laundry. While it sounds unappealing, we both felt satisfied at the end of the day. Sometimes we all need to take a break from our busy schedules and recharge.

I hope you all have a great weekend!
