Returning home after a weekend filled with giggles and great food (we had a family reunion over the weekend) we needed a few days to catch up on sleep! Once we were re-cooperated our busy schedule picked back up with sailing lessons, waterski shows, and listening to jazz at the botanical gardens. I still feel a tug at my heart living a few hours away from my family, but I’m grateful that this time apart is spent in a beautiful town that hosts a multitude of community events.

What do you love most about where you live? I’d love to hear!

I admit, I have been slacking with my Friday Favorites post lately. It isn’t because I haven’t had anything to share, it’s because we have booked solid. The majority of the year we scour local listings for things to do, but during the summer you just have to walk a few blocks to find an event. From farmer’s markets to outdoor concerts, we could be at an event every night if we had the time. This week we dropped by a music fest and ate a picnic dinner by the lake.

What summer events are you enjoying?

Ian and I got to play tourist while his family was in town visiting. We browsed art boutiques, chatted with shop owners, and toured a cave. Yes, a cave! I remember visiting Cave of the Mounds as a child and loved seeing the natural wonder again  – even if navigating around in the under ground cave sparked small bouts of claustrophobia!

This weekend we are looking forward to taking it easy. We have been on the go for the past two weeks and a quite weekend at home sounds like just what we need.

I hope you all have a fun-filled weekend!
