UW-Madison Homecoming

When you are in your mid-twenties, you don’t experience many moments where you sit back and go, “whoa, I’m getting old.” They come up unexpectedly when you reference Backstreet Boys in front of a group of teenagers and they have no idea who you are talking about – or when you sit in the student section at a Badger football game as an alum. Luckily tradition was on our side and we still knew all the cheers, but my choice in sensible shoes (hey, I had to stand the whole game!) and layers of warm clothes showed I wasn’t a trendy student anymore. It was a bittersweet realization since I will always cherish our college years, but I couldn’t be happier with where we are today.

We started off the week with a heat wave and I tried to soak in as much sun as possible. Ian and I even skipped a few gym sessions in order to bike on the local trails. Fall is a beautiful season and it was a nice surprise to experience the changing colors on a warm evening.

Below are a few photos I snapped on our weekend trip back home. We attended a baby shower, filled our bellies at a church fundraiser, and took a walk around the farm.

What are your highlights from this week?

Ian and I felt cooped up in the house and decided a mini road-trip was just what we needed to feel refreshed and energized. We debated driving down to Milwaukee or up to Door County, but after seeing photos of the sand dunes at Whitefish Dunes State Park the decision was made. Photos can not do this place justice! After hiking to “Old Baldy,” one of the largest sand dunes in the state, we sat on the shoreline to watch the sunset. Hopefully we have a few nice days left this season and Ian and I can make it back out to the park and enjoy the beautiful views it has to offer.
